Billy Joel, the prolific singer-songwriter with iconic hits together with “Piano Man” and “Uptown Lady,” introduced Tuesday he’s releasing his first new single in 17 years.

Dropping Feb. 1, “Flip the Lights Again On” is his first new music since 2007 (the one “All My Life”) and solely his second launch since 1996 (when he recorded Gerry Goffin and Carole King’s “Hey Lady” and Bob Dylan’s “To Make You Really feel My Love” for his 1997 album “Best Hits Quantity III”).

His final full-length album was 2001’s “Fantasies & Desires,” solely classical compositions which are a little bit of a departure from the colourful pop and story-like lyricism followers know him for. His final pop document was 1993’s “River of Desires.”

Which isn’t to say the Poet of Lengthy Island has been resting on his laurels all these years — Joel has saved lots busy with frequent performances and a number of other residencies at Madison Sq. Backyard. He’ll finish his present residency there in July along with his a hundred and fiftieth present.

Joel, 74, alluded to the brand new music on TikTok following his debut on the platform, per a press launch on his official web site.
